The Richard Lende Winter Neurosurgery Conference originated during the winter or 1972-1973 when a small group of similarly motivated neurosurgeons met at the Alta Peruvian Lodge and at Snowbird, where papers and ideas were exchanged in an informal meeting. The meeting was obviously well recieved and plans were laid for future gatherings. The future was clouded however, by the injury of Dr. Richard Lende, then Chariman of Neurosurgery at Albany, who suffered a severe leg fracture requiring hospitalization at the University of Utah Medical Center. After a lengthy stay, he returned to Albany, where he tragically suffered a cardiac arrest and expired while anesthetized for a minor surgical wound revision.

The spirit and intent of the original meeting has been preserved for more than two decades. It is open to Neurosciences only, providing a forum for free exchange of ideas and presentation of innovations in neurological surgery and allied fields. This meeting of research and clinical applications in a relaxed setting has endured the test of time as a popular tribute to the memory of Dr. Richard Lende.

Lende Snowbird Meeting

This meeting is open to Neurosciences ONLY. It provides a forum for free exchange of ideas and presentation of innovations in neurological surgery and allied fields. This meeting of research and clinical applications in a relaxed
setting has endured the test of time as a popular tribute to the memory of Dr. Richard Lende. Registration begins Friday January 28th between 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Cliff Lodge, Snowbird, Utah.

General Information

The Tumor-Update Conference will begin with registration on Friday, January 28th , beginning at 7:00 am, with the actual didactic session beginning at 7:30 am at the Huntsman Cancer Institute located at the University of Utah.

The Lende Conference at Snowbird will begin with registration on Friday, January 28th, between 7:00 pm –8:30 pm, with the actual didactic sessions beginning on Saturday morning, January 29th, 2011. It is the intention of the sponsors to keep this meeting an open forum. All participants are encouraged to submit titles for presentation.

Tumor Update registration desk will be placed outside the 6th floor auditorium of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, located at 2000 Circle of Hope, Salt Lake City, UT on Friday January 28th between 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Cancellations

Rooms released 15-29 days prior to arrival will be subject to a cancellation fee of two nights lodging deposit. Rooms released within 14 days prior to arrival will forfeit full deposit. Early departures are considered a cancellation.

Trip Insurance

Snowbird offers trip insurance for cancellations or interruptions. It pays for penalties assessed due to unforeseen circumstances or death, injury or illness.

Children's Center

If you need to make arrangements for a babysitter, ski school, etc.; please call the Children's Center direct, (801- 521-6040, ext. 5026) Infant/child care also available. It is best to call early!

CME

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of AANS and Richard Lende Winter Neurosurgery
Conference. The AANS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The AANS designates this educational activity for a maximum AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only
claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Refund Policy

There will be a $50 administrative fee for any cancellations prior to January 15, 2011, NO REFUNDS after this date.

The Lende Conference will begin with registration on Friday, January 28th, with the actual sessions beginning on Saturday morning, January 29th at 8:00 a.m. You will be given an eight-foot table. Set-up will begin on Friday January 28th at 7:00 pm in the Magpie Room at the Cliff Lodge. Exhibit hall will be opened Saturday Jan 29th– Tuesday Feb 1st.

Please check in at the registration desk prior to setting up.
